drop stand

I recently purchased a drop stand from memory lane for my 1940 Hawthorne. The problem that I am having is that the bracket that holds it up is so flimsy that when I hit a bump the stand wants to fall down, it also rattles like crazy. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix these problems? I've tried over bending the bracket but then I have to re bend it every time. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
